Most homeowners don't think about their outlets until something goes wrong. A tripped outlet in the bathroom, a dead plug near the kitchen sink, or a garage outlet that just stopped working - these are all signs that your GFCI protection may be failing or missing entirely. And in areas where water and electricity share the same space, that's not something to ignore.

GFCI outlets work by constantly monitoring the flow of electricity. The moment they detect an imbalance - even a tiny one - they cut the power in a fraction of a second. That's the difference between a minor inconvenience and a serious electrical shock. Kitchens, bathrooms, garages, outdoor areas, and anywhere near plumbing are all required by code to have this protection.

We handle everything from new GFCI installations in spots that never had proper protection, to replacing old or failed units that are no longer doing their job. Part of what we do during every visit is test the existing outlets before and after the work. That orange outlet tester you might see us use - it's a quick way to verify wiring issues and confirm the new outlet is functioning correctly. No guessing. We know what we're looking at before we touch anything.

Outdoor outlets take a beating. Moisture, insects, and general wear will eventually compromise even a well-protected unit. When a cover is damaged or the outlet itself has stopped resetting, it's time to swap it out. Same goes for older GFCI outlets that look fine on the surface but fail the reset test - those need to go. We also serve areas near water heaters and utility spaces where code requires GFCI coverage but it's often overlooked. We're licensed, insured, and serving the Metro Atlanta area with same-day service available.

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we're proud to stand behind that cause as a community-minded business. Whether you need a single outlet replaced or a full GFCI upgrade across your home, Charles R. Morton Electric LLC is here to get it done right.
